A Richmond man has been arrested in connection with the violent robbery last weekend of a 68-year-old woman in Fairfield, according to the Fairfield Police Department, which published the above booking photo.

Alonzo Terrell Washington, 27, was arrested with assistance of Richmond police Monday inside a home in the 200 block of S. 7th St. in Richmond, police said.

Police believe Washington is the attacker in a robbery incident that occurred in Fairfield Saturday just before 8 p.m. The victim was approached from behind on Travis Boulevard and struck in the back of the head by the suspect, who then ripped her purse from her hands before fleeing, police said.

The victim suffered injuries to one of her hands and both arms as a result of the incident.

Major Crimes Detectives obtained an arrest warrant after obtaining evidence they say proves Washington committed the crime.

At the time of his arrest, Washington’s pants pocket contained a loaded handgun, police said.  He was booked into Solano County Jail on multiple robbery charges and also illegal possession of a handgun.

“Mr. Washington has an extensive criminal history in Solano, Alameda and Contra Costa Counties,” Fairfield police said.

Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call the Fairfield Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit at (707)428-7600, the 24-hour Tip Line at (707) 428-7345 or Crime Stoppers at (707) 644-7867. Callers can remain anonymous.
