The first of two annual Music on the Main summer concerts is scheduled for Wednesday night.

Michael Jeffries, former singer of the popular R&B group Tower of Power, will join 6-piece New Orleans-style funk and R&B group BeauFunk in the headline performance of the concert, which runs from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the lot next to the BART parking garage on the corner of Marina Way and Macdonald Avenue.

Before BeauFunk takes the stage, local R&B group The Reed Fromer Band will perform.

A second free concert is scheduled for Aug. 26 and features Andre Thierry and the Caribbean Allstars.

Both concerts will feature family-friendly activities, Zumba fitness breaks, beer and food vendors, drawing prizes, and a special water saving comedy and juggling presentation by EBMUD’s EarthCapades!

Music on the Main is sponsored by the City of Richmond, Chevron, Sims Metal, and the YMCA East Bay. Additional support for Music on the Main comes from the Downtown Richmond Property Based Business Improvement District (DRPBID).
