The victim killed in one of two separate Richmond shootings Tuesday has been identified by the county coroner’s office as Fontino Hardy Jr., 29, of Vallejo.

Hardy Jr. was killed in a shooting in a parking lot of the Monterey Pines Apartments complex about 4:45 p.m., police said.

A 17-year-old boy who was also injured in the shooting was reported in critical condition at John Muir Medical Center Tuesday night, but his condition has since been upgraded to stable and he is expected to recover, Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said Wednesday.

Officers responding to the shooting found Hardy Jr. in parking lot F of Monterey Pines, located in the 600 block of Berk Avenue, Abetkov said. After officers attempted to revive him, he was transported to Kaiser Hospital, where he died.

Just over an hour after the shooting, three more people were suffered bullet wounds to the legs when gunfire rang out at Pullman Point Apartments at Pullman Avenue and Carlson Boulevard.

The motive of the shootings are unknown and it is also unclear whether the incidents are connected in any way.

No arrests have been made, Abetkov said.

Hardy Jr’s death marked the city’s 10th homicide this year.
