A launch party for the annual San Pablo program that aims to inspire residents to shop locally and obtain discounts is set for Friday at Plaza Sobrante Shopping Center at 3550 San Pablo Dam Rd.
From 11 a.m. to noon, leaders of the local business community will officially announce the Road to Rewards: Discover. Play. Win. program, an interactive game intended to connect shoppers to local goods and services with gift cards and opportunities to win prizes. Those attending will enjoy food offerings from Zinia’s Bakery and H.S. Fish & Chips.
To play Road to Rewards, shoppers can pick up a map (like the one below) at the launch party or at any of the 32 participating businesses, which are identified on the map.
When they dine or shop at any of the businesses and spend the minimum amount indicated, merchants will place a sticker on their map. Every $25 spent earns a raffle ticket and a shot at a Fitbit Flex or a $500 gift card from Las Montañas. For every $100 spent, players earn a $10 gift card to a local business.
“There are special corner offers where shoppers may spend as little as $5 and earn up to $25 credit,” organizers said.
Maps must be taken to the San Pablo Economic Development Corporation at 13830 San Pablo Ave. in order for shoppers to receive raffle tickets and prizes.
The program runs from Saturday through Sept. 30.
The YouTube video below further describes the game through the eyes of a shopper.
