Who will be a cut above the rest?

On Sunday, the Western Barber Conference is set to host the Catch a Fade Barber Battle, a one-on-one barber competition at the Hilltop Courtyard Marriott in Richmond, 3150 Garrity Way.

The third running of the competition, which is expected to draw barbers from around the nation, will occur in conjunction with a barbering expo, and the general public is invited to attend. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“This event is big for our city, as most of these kind of events take place in major cities,” Boyd told us Monday.

For barbers who want to compete, note that you must sign up prior to the event. To pre-register or to purchase tickets to the event, visit House of Blends Barber Club in Pinole or go online here. Admission to the battle is $30.

A “weigh-in” pre-competition event will be held at House of Blends Barber Club, 1556 Fitzgerald Dr. in Pinole at 8 p.m. Saturday. Following Sunday’s competition, an awards dinner will be held at Chevy’s Fresh Mex at 3101 Garrity Way in Richmond at 7 p.m.
