First 100 to attend Rosie the Riveter world record attempt to receive free bandana, socks

Guinness World Record attempt underway to gather 1,000 Rosie the Riveter lookalikes in Richmond

We just received new information about the highly-anticipated Rosie Rally in Richmond on Saturday, Aug. 15, which aims to break a Guinness World Record for the largest number of women of all ages dressed as Rosies in one place and time since WWII.

On Thursday, Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park announced that the first 100 people to arrive at the Rosie Rally, which hopes to gather more than 1,000 Rosie lookalikes, will receive a pack with the official bandana and socks provided by Rosie the Riveter Trust.

For those who can’t get early enough, the socks and bandanas will be available for purchase for $7 per pack, park officials said.

The event, which runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Rosie the Riveter Memorial in Marina Park (corner of Regatta Boulevard and Melville Square), aims to break the Guinness World Record set last year, when 776 Rosies met at the Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, MI.

The Rosie Rally will occur on the same day as the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII on Aug. 14, 1945, and is part of a worldwide effort by the Spirit of ’45 to honor those who served during the war. The event will include a musical performance by the Swingin’ Blue Stars, the unveiling of a sculpture of Rosie by Seward Johnson, and a ceremony to commemorate the end of the war, followed by a photo of all the Rosies, museum officials said.

Men are welcome to attend and assist with world record attempt. Please visit here for more information.
