Social Progress Inc. and the Greater Richmond Inter-Faith Programs are looking for volunteers to assist in the Fifth Annual Fourth of July Parade and Festival this Saturday.

The festival will be held at the corner of Fred Jackson Way and Chesley Avenue from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The groups are looking for volunteers to build two floats for the parade, as well as to help out on some of the other activities during the holiday event.

School supplies and backpacks will be given away during the festivities.  Those interested in receiving the school supplies should call and register ahead of time.

The event features games for children, face painting and other booths of activities. Barbecue, healthy beverages and healthy foods are also part of the day’s activities.

To register for the supplies or to volunteer you’re asked to call Tina Brown at 510-815-5664. Cash or check donations are being accepted at Greater Richmond Inter-Faith Programs (GRIP) at P.O. Box 1906, Richmond, 94802.
