As expected, El Sobrante pimp Laton Lateef Belle was sentenced in an Orange County courtroom this week to five years and eight months in state prison after pleading guilty last month to one felony count each of human trafficking, attempted pimping and pandering.

Belle, 29, was arrested in August 2013 after an undercover Anaheim police officer contacted his victim, a 25-year-old woman, prosecutors said. During three previous days, Belle met the woman through an Internet website known for prostitution and escort services. He sent her texts promising heaps of money if she traveled with him to Orange County.

However, Belle kept all the money the victim made over the next three days and instilled fear in her through intimidation, at one point telling her he knows killers and knows where she lives, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors described Belle as a “modern day slave” owner with rigid rules such as daily quotas and being unable to speak to certain men.
