After three days of trials in Colorado last week, Salesian alum Mariya Moore (pictured on the left) was named to the 2015 USA Basketball Women’s U19 World Championship Team that will compete in Spain and Russia this summer, it was announced Monday.

Moore, who just finished up an impressive freshman season at the University of Louisville, will begin a weeklong training session with her fellow star teammates June 30 before traveling to Alicante, Spain to compete in a tournament against national teams in Australia, Canada and the host country.

The team then heads to the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship in Chekhov, Russia.

The U19 USA squad is seeking its sixth consecutive gold medal at the U19 Worlds. Moore helped the USA Basketball U-18 team last summer win gold in Colorado, and she was among 34 athletes to try out last week for the U-19 team.
