No one was injured when a fire broke out in a single-family home in Richmond, according to fire officials.

About 9:15 p.m., fire crews responding to the call could see smoke and flames a block away from the home in the 5200 block of Gately Avenue, which is east of Crescent Park and west of Interstate Highway 80, the Richmond Fire Department said.

The fire reached both the first and second floors, causing smoke and fire damage and displacing two people. The victims were set to be provided shelter by American Red Cross.

The residents were outside the home when fire crews arrived, officials said. The fire’s cause is under investigation.
