Black high school seniors from Richmond who plan to attend college have an opportunity to earn a $250 scholarship toward their education by writing an essay, according to community advocate Rodney Alamo Brown.

This week, Alamo Consulting Group and Simply Dre Productions announced a collaboration to offer one scholarship to a black high school senior from the city. The senior must be planning to enroll full-time at an accredited college or university and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. The essay must be about the teen’s experiences growing up in Richmond.

Deadline is June 10. Essays should be emailed to Alamohawaii@yahoo.com. The winner will be announced July 4.
