Richmond Fire Department offers tips for approaching fire season

No one was injured and no harmful substances were released into the air when a fire broke out in a chemical processing boiler room in Richmond, according to the Contra Costa Times, citing a report from a fire battalion chief.

The blaze was reported at 8:50 p.m. in the 3000 block of Regatta Boulevard. Automatic sprinklers contained the fire to the room and crews managed to extinguish it in 20 minutes, officials said.

According to the Times, chemicals were not released into the air or via water runoff and damages to the boiler room were estimated to be about $100,000.

The fire’s cause is under investigation.
