On May 9, Dominic Tu became Salesian’s first student-athlete to win an individual North Coast Section (NCS) tennis title in the school’s 55-year history.

The unseeded Tu defeated his No. 2-seeded Cardinal Newman opponent 6-2, 6-4 in the NCS Division II Championship at College of Marin.

In response last week, the Bay Area News Group named Tu the East Bay Athlete of the Week.

Tu is also the 2015 Tri-County Athletic League singles tennis champion. He finished 16-2 in singles matches this season.

Tu plans to attend the University of California, Berkeley in the fall, according to Salesian.
