Richmond firefighters praised for saving woman’s life

Richmond Fire Department offers tips for approaching fire season

Members of the Richmond Fire Department’s Company 67 were recently praised by City Manager Bill Lindsay for saving the life of a woman who suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this year.

The firefighters were called to the 400 block of Marina Way South at 9:21 a.m. on March 11 and found the woman breathless and without a pulse, Richmond fire Capt. Rico Rincon confirmed Friday. They immediately began lifesaving interventions and were successful in reviving her and transporting her to the hospital.

She is now “making a full recovery at home,” according to Lindsay’s weekly newsletter.

RFD responds to several thousand medical incidents annually and the members of the department must maintain their proficiency as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Lindsay stated.
