East Bay Regional Park District police are searching for a juvenile suspect after a Richmond resident was shot in the nose with a BB gun Wednesday.
At 4:14 p.m., police dispatch received a call that a person was shot on the Wildcat Canyon Trail near Park Avenue, just down the road from the Alvarado Park staging area, parks spokesperson Carolyn Jones told us Thursday.
The victim, who had been walking with his friend, said he heard a pop and then felt his nose start to bleed. He then saw a rifle-toting white teenager who he had never met, Jones said.
The juvenile suspect ran southbound on the Wildcat Canyon Trail, downhill towards Wildcat Creek. Despite a search by park police and an air support unit, the suspect wasn’t found. He was described as between 15 and 18 years old, short in stature with a heavy build, clean shaven with brown or dark short hair, Jones said. He was wearing a dark green backpack and carried a black rifle bag.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department at 510-881-1833.
