West County teens will receive advice on how to search for jobs, interview for them and what is expected after they are hired at a summer jobs fair at Hercules Library, 109 Civic Dr., on Tuesday, April 28.

The Hercules Library Teen Job Fair, which runs from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., will connect teens with local experts who can give them a head start on the job searching process. The event will also help teens identify volunteer opportunities and internships.

Denise Clarke of the Contra Costa County Office of Education will detail countywide resources, including internships through Kaiser-Permanente, Laney College and STEM Summer Camps.

Local H.R. guru Myrtle Dawana will teach kids how to turn volunteer experience and limited work experience into a more complete employment application.

Local sales expert Bob Polacchi will offer guidance in selling yourself in the job interview.

Teresa Gonzalez, a vocational transitional specialist from the West Contra Costa Unified School District, will discuss the process of getting a work permit through the school district.

Additionally, Joseph Wong of McDonald’s will explain on-the-job expectations after an employee has been hired.
