The person who was fatally struck by a BART train at El Cerrito Plaza station Wednesday morning has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as 17-year-old Miko Pantoja of Richmond.

BART received a report at 9:30 a.m. of a person under a train at the station and announced he had died about an hour later.

The incident caused the station to shut down for about three hours and delayed the Richmond, Fremont and Millbrae lines.

Pantoja’s death is under investigation.

He was the second person to die locally this week on BART tracks.

Jeffrey Duszynski, 32, whose city of residence was not known, was struck and killed by a train at Richmond Station about 1:06 a.m. Tuesday, shortly before BART service ceased for the night, BART police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police planned to review video from the train and station to determine how Duszynski ended up on the tracks.
