The motorcyclist who was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate Highway 80 on Wednesday afternoon has been identified as Andre Bayati, 27, of El Cerrito.

Bayati was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash east of Central Avenue, which occurred just before 3 p.m. He was somehow ejected from the motorcycle and was struck by at least one vehicle in nearby lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision involved an SUV and big rig, which overturned while swerving to avoid the motorcyclist, CHP said.

Investigators are still trying to find out what caused Bayati to be ejected from his motorcycle, and ask witnesses to call (800) TELL-CHP or (510) 450-3821.
