A man was shot multiple times in Richmond this afternoon, police said.

The shooting was reported about 2:45 p.m.  in the 3000 block of Groom Drive (location on the map below).

A resident in the area called police saying a man came into their apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said. The man was airlifted from Hilltop Mall to a trauma center in critical condition, Abetkov said.

“The victim was an acquaintance of the residents of the apartment,” Abetkov said.

There were no suspect descriptions, she said. Detectives were interviewing the residents of the apartment and witnesses, trying to gather more information.
