Despite Tuesday’s closure of Doctors Medical Center in San Pablo, West County residents will continue to pay a $52 annual parcel tax “at least until 2027,” according to the Contra Costa Times.

The money will be used to pay off bonds approved in 2004, the Times reported.

However, the community will no longer pay the $47 annual tax that was enacted by vote in 2011. The funds will stop being collected “as of fiscal year 2015-16” due to DMC’s closure, the Times said.

The Times offers far more details on the hospital’s financial situation moving forward, so we encourage you to read the full report.
