A fire that broke out in a Richmond building that houses a dental office and residential unit caused an estimated $100,000 worth of damage Monday, but thankfully no one was injured, a fire captain said.
The single-alarm fire was reported about 10:55 a.m. in the living quarters of the property at Bissell Avenue and 37th Street, Richmond fire Capt. Rico Rincon said. Fire crews responded and quickly brought the blaze under control.
The landlord who operates the dental office was not at the building at the time of fire, nor were any of the tenants renting the residential unit, Rincon said. Fire officials have since spoken to the landlord, but as of Friday afternoon his tenants had not yet returned. Relocation services from the American Red Cross will be provided to them if needed, Rincon said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, he added.
