Bicyclists injured in Richmond collisions Monday were riding illegally, police say

Three people who were riding bicycles illegally in Richmond on Monday were struck by vehicles in two separate incidents that occurred within 90 minutes, police told the Contra Costa Times.

In one incident about 5:45 p.m., the two men, one pedaling and the other riding handlebars, ran into a van in the 2700 block of Barrett Avenue, according to the Times. They were treated for moderate injuries and released Monday night.

That same night at Carlson and Cutting boulevards, a 14-year-old girl cycled against traffic signals and collided with a motorcycle. She was treated at Kaiser Richmond for moderate injuries, the Times reported.
