Some local residents have asked for an update on that dirty bomb drill in Richmond on April 11 that involved more than 100 members of the California National Guard.
The exercise indeed occurred at the facility shared by the Richmond and El Cerrito fire departments at 3506 Cutting Blvd., according to City Manager Bill Lindsay’s report.
Soldiers and airmen belonging to the California National Guard’s 49th Military Police Brigade, based in Fairfield, took part in the daylong exercise, along with local law enforcement and fire personnel.
Briefings were conducted and incident action plans were created to deal with the dirty bomb attack, according to Linday’s newsletter.
“An incident of this magnitude requires multiple agencies working jointly over extended periods of time, and involves a considerable amount of organizing of resources at various government levels,” the city manager’s report stated.
The photos from the report were provided by the National Guard’s Facebook page.
