Organizers of the West County Cinco de Mayo Peace & Unity Parade are seeking volunteers to help coordinate the event on Saturday, May 2.

Volunteers are needed to fill a number of different roles, including parade leaders and monitors, traffic directors, float directors, check-in assistance for horse riders and general helpers.

The annual event, now in its 9th year, unites community advocates and neighbors of the cities of Richmond and San Pablo to organize, host and enjoy the colorful parade and festival .

This year’s parade will place special emphasis on students and families of the West Contra Costa Unified School District, who are encouraged to join the parade and march, dance, ride and promote their individual talents. High school students from San Pablo and Richmond will also be encouraged to decorate floats.

To learn more or become a volunteer, residents can attend a volunteer meeting on March 3, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Los Cenzontles, 13108 San Pablo Ave., San Pablo.
