Though it wasn’t her best game of the year, Salesian alum Mariya Moore scored seven points for her new team, the University of Louisville, in a Sweet 16 loss that was featured on ESPN Saturday.

Louisville fell to Dayton, 82-66, but Cardinals Head Coach Jeff Walz said he is “thrilled” that his team finished the year in the Sweet 16 and with a 27-7 record.

“There were a lot of question marks about what we were going to do,” he said. “To be 27-7, I’m thrilled.”

Moore was a big reason for that record. She earned all-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) second team and all-freshman team honors after averaging 13.5 points per game this season.
