Richmond police are applauding their trusted canine Ranger, who led officers to two hidden guns that were possibly used in the shooting on Chanslor Avenue on Wednesday.

The shooting occurred in the 1900 block of Chanslor about 6 p.m. and hospitalized a man, police said.

Officers at the scene developed information that the guns used during the shooting incident were nearby. So K9 Officer Alex Caine and his partner, the 5-year-old Belgian Malinois named Ranger, were summoned to help find the weapons.
