No one was injured after a fire broke out in the detached garage of a vacant home in Richmond’s Iron Triangle neighborhood early Tuesday, fire officials said.

The fire was reported at about midnight at the single-family home in the 500 block of 5th St., near Ripley Avenue, according to the Richmond Fire Department.

Responding fire crews reported smoke and flames at the rear of the home in a detached garage. They accessed the area through an alley at the rear of the home and had the blaze under control within 20 minutes.

The detached garage suffered severe smoke and fire damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials said.
