The El Cerrito High boys basketball team defeated Las Lomas 76-57 Wednesday night, earning a trip to the North Coast Section Division II championship game on Friday.

The Gauchos (28-3) capitalized on a dominant second quarter during which they outscored Las Lomas (19-10) 22-12.

El Cerrito will next head to the D2 title game against Montgomery, which used its highly regarded defense to defeat Dublin 61-49 on Wednesday.

The championship game will be played Friday at St. Mary’s College in Moraga.
