Here we go again.
At 7 p.m. Saturday, the Salesian girls varsity basketball team will be looking to avenge last month’s slim loss to rival St. Mary’s.
The powerhouse teams will face off in the North Coast Section Division IV championship game at Albany High School.
Salesian won the NCS championship last year before becoming the first team in school history to make it to the CIF Open Division state title game. The team has had yet another stellar season this year, amassing a 27-3 record and going 10-0 in league play. The Pride’s loss to St. Mary’s in the Tri-County Athletic League title game was its first defeat since Dec. 27 to Brookside Christian, a top-ranked team.
Salesian has advanced through the NCS playoffs by rolling past Lick-Wilmerding 67-40 in the first round and Cardinal Newman 57-55 in the second round.
Guard Minyon Moore has led the Pride this season with about 14 points, 7 assists and 5 steals per game, according to MaxPreps.com. Kian McNair has averaged 12.3 points per game and just over 4 rebounds, and Jordan Hobson has contributed just under 11 points per game and averages four rebounds.
