The Richmond Police Department pulled another weapon off the streets this week – this time a .40 caliber, semi-automatic pistol from a suspected DUI driver, police said.

Around 12:40 am Friday, police saw a man driving his car erratically without headlights. After pulling over the vehicle at S. 35th St. and Wall Ave. in Richmond, police suspected the driver to be intoxicated. Following an investigation, police seized the loaded gun from the car’s passenger seat.

Police arrested the suspect for illegally possessing a loaded firearm and driving under the influence.

No injuries were reported.

Police are encouraging the public to report illegal firearm possession. Anonymity will be protected. Call 911 if it is an emergency or (510)233-1214.
