Kennedy High star running back Ernie Timoteo has signed a letter of intent to play for Sacramento State University, the school announced Wednesday.

Sacramento State running backs coach Sammy Lawanson expressed excitement over Timoteo’s commitment on Twitter, stating: “Big boy doin damage…. Welcome to the family Ernie!!!”

The Kennedy senior, who at one point was being courted by Cal, was known as one of the East Bay’s best running backs. Praised for his size, speed and mobility, the 6-2, 220-pounder rushed for 1,815 yards and 17 touchdowns in his final two season at Kennedy. He was a two-time all-Tri-County Stone League selection.

Sac State signed 31 players, 18 for its defense and 13 on offense.
