An employee of the Little Caeser’s Pizza in El Cerrito was shot during an armed robbery of the business Monday night, police said.

The robbery occurred about 8:20 p.m. at the eatery at 11299 San Pablo Ave., when two men with hoods and sweatshirts pulled over their faces entered the business and demanded money from the employee, according to the El Cerrito Police Department.

“After making the demand, one of the suspects, armed with a handgun, shot the employee,” police said.

The suspects fled with cash and were last seen running in the shopping center parking lot. They were described as Hispanic men in their 20s or 30s who wore dark clothing, police said.

The female employee was taken to a local trauma center, but has since been released home and is expected to be OK.
