A 20-year-old man from Fairfield has been arrested in connection with break-ins at two homes in Richmond’s North & East neighborhood during which he pointed a gun at residents and demanded cash and property, police said.
David O’Neal was arrested Thursday, three days after police say he broke into a home in the 600 block of 27th Street about 6:35 a.m., Richmond police spokesperson Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said. He was found hiding between parked cars in the same area where the burglaries occurred and about the same time. He was detained following a brief foot chase, Abetkov said.
During the 27th Street incident, O’Neal was reportedly scared off by a screaming 15-year-old girl who had been home with family members.
O’Neal has been linked to a similar incident on Feb.4 in the 2600 block of Clinton Avenue, where an armed man slipped through a window of a home before being confronted by a resident. The suspect pulled a weapon on the resident and stole items, police said.
