Richmond’s only synagogue, Temple Beth Hillel, is holding its Purim Carnival and Raffle on Sunday, March 1.

The whole community is invited to the free event, which runs from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the synanogue at 801 Park Central St.

Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes, masks and to bring noisemakers for the carnival, which will include craft booths and games for kids of all ages, treasures from the gift shop, traditional hamentaschen (a three-cornered fruit-filled pastry), home-baked goods and a tasty lunch.

The Carnival’s highlight is a a raffle offering a $250 gift card as the grand prize.

“So put on your costumes, bring your friends, family and especially the kids to the Temple’s Purim Carnival,” organizers said. “Everyone is welcome and admission is free.”

Purim is the Jewish holiday commemorating a time when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from extermination.
