Lucky local reveals how she twice won the California Lottery

Remember the $3.5 million SuperLotto Plus Lottery ticket that was purchased at a Richmond store on Jan. 10?

The winner lives close to where she purchased the ticket — the Arco AM/PM at 15531 San Pablo Ave. — and this is the second time she and her friend have teamed to win big in a lottery, according to California Lottery officials.

In their most recent win, Cynthia Villanueva and pal Erlinda Ravelo split $7 million after playing the same numbers. Ravelo purchased her ticket in Milpitas, officials said. The numbers were reportedly a combination of their family members’ birthdates and anniversaries, lottery officials said.

In 2011, the two won $466,000 each in the Mega Millions game after again playing the same numbers. The friends use three sets of numbers when they play. The first set of numbers won the Mega Millions game, and the second set won the SuperLotto Plus.
The friends said they will take their recent winnings on a trip to Portugal, pay off their houses, help their children and donate to charity.

The retailers who sold the tickets will each receive a $17,500 bonus.
