Basketball star Riana Byrd, a Richmond native and alum of Inderkum High in Sacramento, has reached yet another big milestone at San Jose State University.

Byrd’s six rebounds against Boise State on Jan. 21 means she’s got the third most rebounds in team history with 715 in 78 games, according to the team. She began the season in ninth place with 603 career rebounds.

As SJSU points out, Byrd’s got a lot more work left to catch the alum with the second most rebounds. Rhoda Chew, who played from 1982-85, had 946.

But there’s other good news: At her current pace, Bryd “could finish her career as just the second Spartan ever to reach the 1,000 point/1,000 rebound plateau,” joining Elinor Banks (1,672 points/1,062 rebounds – 1978-81).
