Turns out the legendary Michael Jackson did not return from the dead, slip into a Grinch costume and perform at Richmond’s Hilltop Community Church over the holidays.

The costumed dancers who appear in a YouTube video posted Wednesday were not even professionals, but they pulled off routines from Jackson’s famous “Thriller” music video.

They are volunteers, West County residents and members of Hilltop Community Church at 3118 Shane Drive. They signed on to perform in the church’s annual Christmas presentation, which included shows on Dec. 12, Dec. 14 and Dec. 15.

“They’re really good dancers,” Abigail Reynolds, technical assistant at Hilltop Community Church, told us Thursday.

Reynolds said the Grinch performance was one of several segments in the show, which was set up like a play and included everything from a script to a light show.

Check it out. It may encourage you to catch next year’s performance.

  1. LOl…really?? At a church xmas show…oh the irony. Anyone recall the disclaimer MJ had to put at the beginning of Thriller due to his church’s outrage about the video depicting a perceived association with the occult?!
Great dancing, but odd for a christian themed holiday!
