Thanks to the Center for Investigative Reporting (CIR), Contra Costa County parents can now view records for local child day care centers.

You can look up individual day care centers here to find out how they fared during inspections, and to see whether they had incurred any complaints or citations.

CIR has been posting records from California counties online because it says the state has been offering only limited information since last year.

“While the majority of other states routinely make this information available online, California has failed to do so,” according to CIR. “That’s left many parents in the dark about the preschools and day care centers that their children attend.”
