The fee to park at the Richmond BART station will increase from $1 daily to $1.50 starting Jan. 20, and from $2.50 to $3 at El Cerrito Del Norte station on Jan. 26, the transit agency announced.
All but six BART stations will see 50-cent increases in the daily parking fee as part of a relatively new pricing system that sets rates based upon demand.
The transit agency tracks parking lot usage every six months, and if a lot is full then the daily parking fee can increase by a half-dollar. If the lot is less than 95-percent full, then the fee can decrease by 50 cents.
But the total price can’t go above $3 per day, per BART’s parking fee policy.
“All revenue raised from these new fees will go to programs for improved station access, rehabilitation, and modernization,” the transit agency said.
