A driver’s erratic behavior at a Taco Bell drive-thru in Richmond Thursday night led to her arrest on charges of driving while under the influence, police said.

About 10:45 p.m., police said, an employee of the Taco Bell at 2300 Barrett Ave. called police to report that a driver had been falling asleep behind the wheel at the drive-thru and had run over a curb as she departed.

“One of our officers arrived and found the vehicle driving down the wrong way on 23rd Street,” Richmond police spokesperson Nicole Abetkov said.

The woman was pulled over. Her preliminary blood alcohol content was more than double the legal limit, Abetkov added.

The 52-year-old Richmond resident, whose identity was not immediately available, was arrested and booked.
