Three people were injured in a shooting near the Hilltop Mall area of Richmond Friday night, police said.

The shooting occurred about 9:35 p.m. in the 3100 block of Southampton Court, where an argument ensued between a group of three males and four people who had just driven into the carport of an apartment complex, police spokesperson Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said Saturday.

The argument broke out as the four people got out of the vehicle, but police don’t know what the spat was about.

One member of the group of three males who had approached the people from the vehicle pulled out a gun, fired and wounded two men and a woman, Abetkov said. The victims were transported to hospitals, including one in critical condition. As of Saturday morning, all victims were listed in stable condition and are expected to survive, Abetkov said.

No suspects are in custody and police said the dispute was not believed to be gang related. Investigators are searching for a suspect vehicle that fled following the shooting: either a white BMW or Mercedes SUV.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Richmond police at (510) 621-9902.
