Police are searching for two suspects who robbed a man at gunpoint after he left the Walmart in Richmond late Monday night.

The robbery occurred at 11:40 p.m. in the 1400 block of Hilltop Mall Road, Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

An officer who responded to the scene spotted a suspect who matched the description of one of the robbers. The suspect fled and allegedly tossed a handgun on the way, but was soon apprehended. However, the victim of the robbery could not positively identify the suspect.

That suspect, whose identity was not immediately available, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a gun, but police are still working to locate the two robbers, Abetkov said.
