Salesian alum Mariya Moore scored 10 points to help the 10th-ranked University of Louisville defeat No. 24 California 70-57 on Sunday.

But the real story is what the Cardinals freshman has been doing all season. Moore’s recent achievements were highlighted in an Associated Press article, which noted she is one of the team’s two freshmen who have had a swifter than expected impact this season.

Louisville coach Jeff Walz told AP that Moore has “been consistent for us” and “plays hard.”

Moore and fellow freshman Myisha Hines-Allen are averaging double figures in scoring, AP said. On Dec. 18, Moore led the team in points with 17 in a win over Grand Canyon. Three days earlier, she led the team again with 15 points against Old Dominion.

After 12 games, she is averaging 14 points in just under 27 minutes per game for Louisville, the school said. Check out more of her stats here.

Louisville next hosts Evansville on Dec. 29.
