Washington Huskies names Travis Feeney Most Outstanding Special Teams Player after great season

Richmond native Travis Feeney won Most Outstanding Special Teams Player honors at the University of Washington football team’s postseason awards banquet, the school announced Sunday.

The junior linebacker, who graduated from Pinole Valley High, “was a regular on all of the special teams units and finished the season with 57 total tackles,” according to the university.

This year, Feeney played in every game for the Huskies, starting in eight. He was named Special Teams Player of the Game against the University of Hawai’i, and in a crucial play against Eastern Washington he returned a fumble for 19 yards. He forced a fumble in a win against Cal, had six tackles against Oregon and scored on a key, 30-yard interception return in a win at Colorado. He also notched a 59-yard interception return against Oregon State, a bout for which he was named defensive player of the game.
