Two former Salesian basketball stars combined for 19 points on Wednesday to help the University of Montana nearly upset Cal at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley.

Montana fell in double-overtime, 78-76, and was led by senior guard Jordan Gregory with 23 points and 12 rebounds, according to the Missoulian.

Cal guard Tyrone Wallace’s three-pointer to send the game into overtime “made Montana groan,” the news publication said.

Jermaine Edmonds Jr., a Richmond native who just transferred to Montana, scored 12 points. Another former Salesian star from Oakland, Mario Dunn, added seven points and five rebounds as the team’s starting point guard, the Missoulian reported.

Cal played without injured starting guard Jabari Byrd, another Salesian alum who played with Edmonds and Dunn. Salesian officials posted past and present pictures of the trio on Facebook.
