A police officer used a Taser to stop a large pit bull from attacking residents near Wilson Elementary School on Wednesday, police said.
The incident was reported about 5:30 p.m. in the 3900 block of Clinton Avenue, police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.
A large unattended pit bull whose owner is unknown went after residents in the area. A police officer used a Taser in order to weaken the pooch so that Animal Control personnel could capture him and bring him to their shelter.
“Luckily, no one was hurt,” Abetkov said.
Domestic violence incident
A 28-year-old man was arrested on charges that he pistol-whipped his girlfriend in a Richmond home Wednesday.
The girlfriend called police at 8:12 p.m. after she said her boyfriend attacked her in a home in the 500 block of Bissell Avenue. The couple had gotten into an argument when the girlfriend said her boyfriend grabbed a replica .45 caliber BB gun and hit her in the head with it, Abetkov said.
Police responded and took the boyfriend into custody. His identity was not immediately released.
The girlfriend was treated for her injuries and released, Abetkov said.
