A loaded gun and a pound of marijuana found in a vehicle parked at a dead end street in Richmond’s Iron Triangle neighborhood Sunday night led to two arrests, police said.

An officer approached the vehicle containing two people near Nevin Avenue and B Street just before 11 p.m., police spokesperson Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said. Apparently noticing the officer, the suspects, described only as males, began to drive away and allegedly committed a vehicle code violation, enabling the officer to stop them, Abetkov said.

“During the stop, a loaded .45 cal handgun and a pound of marijuana was located inside the car,” Abetkov said.

Both suspects were arrested and booked for possession of a loaded firearm and marijuana for sales and transportation.

Further details on the incident, including the suspects’ identities, were not immediately available.
