The San Pablo/Salesian Boys & Girls Club are settling into their rhythm and improving week to week, but they could not hand the College Prep Cougars their first loss in the City of Richmond Flag Football Under-12 League last week.

SP/S B&GC played their hearts out and were valiant until the final whistle at Wednesday’s game, but the Cougars proved why they are a premiere team in the league.

The SP/S B&GC then had to play a second game and again dug deep against a powerhouse: The Richmond All-Stars. The All-Stars were fresh and poised to snag another win.

Also Wednesday, the EM Downer Bearcats topped the College Prep Pumas 25-7.

The Bearcats were looking forward to this game after an Oct. 1st overtime ruling clarification that left them with their only loss of the season.  They quickly jumped out to a 6-0 lead, only to have the Pumas answer on the subsequent drive and converted on the point after attempt.

Down 7-6, the Bearcats found themselves in an unfamiliar hole, but the team’s very talented southpaw quarterback found a plethora of receivers on various crossing, out and deep routes.  This left the Pumas looking for an answer as their inspired defenders couldn’t seem to account for all personnel of the Bearcat’s attack.

With that same southpaw nabbing four Puma passes to stunt any efforts of a comeback, the Bearcats went on to a hard-fought victory, despite what the score indicates.
