The City of Richmond’s Flag Football league on Oct. 8 featured an anticipated matchup between the undefeated Richmond All-Stars and the 1-1 EM Downer Bearcats.

The game was close throughout, with the Bearcats escaping with a 20-13 victory in what cannot technically be considered an upset.

In the second game, College Prep Cougars outlasted the College Prep Pumas 14-6, an interesting matchup because both teams were determined to take bragging rights back to campus. The game was knotted at 7 at the half, but the Cougars eventually pulled through in a game laden with turnovers.

The EMD Little Bearcats outscored RPAL 10U on Oct. 8 in yet another entertaining showcase of football.

As we reported last week, the 10-under youths initially did not have a league but started pick-up games while the older kids played. So city Recreation officials started a new league just for them, and it has proven to be a great time for everyone.

The only issue: RPAL seemed to have a tough time pulling the flags of one of the Little Bearcats ball carriers.

League officials commended the coaches for ensuring “an exciting and entertaining take” on football.

The above information was provided by Vencel Alfred, a Recreation Leader for the city.
