Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Richmond to celebrate 69th anniversary

Next month, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Richmond will celebrate its 69th anniversary with a series of services featuring guest pastors and musicians from as far as Detroit.

The community is invited to the church at 684 Juliga Woods St. (formerly Erlandson) on Nov. 9 for  Loving Family and Friends Day, during which breakfast will be served at 9:45 a.m. followed by a service at 10:45 a.m.

Then every night Nov. 11 through  Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., Rev. Dr. E.L. Branch, the pastor of Third New Hope Baptist Church in Detroit, will return as guest evangelist, bringing along musicians from his Midwestern city. Also during those days, Bishop Joseph Simmons, pastor of the Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Oakland, will be the guest lecturer for the Richmond church’s Dr. A.H. Newman Lecture Series. Special music will be provided by Dr. Donnell Thomas & BMBC’s Music, Worship & Fine Arts Ministry.

On Nov. 16 at 3 p.m., the Rev. Dr. Joseph Bryant of Calvary Hill Community Church in San Francisco will be a guest speaker.

On Nov. 23, the church anniversary concludes with presentations of Community Activist Awards during the 10:45 a.m. service.
